Today, Foscarini makes designs that transform spaces, bringing beauty and stirring emotions. Their wide range of products include both home décor lamps and special custom designs that perfectly complement residential and commercial interiors. Read on to discover the story behind the brand.

History

1980s

In 1981, Foscarini was founded on the Venetian island of Murano, Italy. The brand began its operations by creating lighting systems for the contract sector, using only Murano glass. Only two years later, in 1983, Foscarini released its first catalog of design lamps as they began to open to new markets and distribution channels.

In 1985, Foscarini started working with external designers. The first result was Wassily off the Wall by Adam Tihany and Joseph Mancini.

In 1988, Carlo Urbinati and Alessandro Vecchiato, who entered the firm as designers, became the new owners.

1990s

In 1990, Rodolfo Dordoni designed Lumiere, the first major Foscarini success. With an evergreen design, the Lumiere collection has many different models and colors today.

In 1993, Foscarini used a material other than glass for the first time. They introduced the Havana Collection by Jozeph Forakis, a light made with polyethylene.
