6 Trends from Milan Design Week 2023

6 Trends from Milan Design Week 2023

In April, our team flew out to Milan for design week and we came back newly inspired! At the Salone Del Mobile Expo, we saw numerous leading modern and contemporary lighting brands showcasing their latest collections and innovations. Every year, we journey to these exhibitions to bring the finest lighting designs to Canada. We could not be more excited to share them with you!

Brands we visited at Milan Design Week: Aromas Del Campo, Artemide, Foscarini, Ingo MaurerLZF Lamps, Luceplan, OLEV, OLUCE, Tom Dixon, Vibia, Zafferano, Zava Luce.

Fresh from Milan, here are all the up-and-coming trends:

1. Mirror Finishes

The delicate look of a mirror finish adds an elegant touch and gently illuminates the space without invading it. These finishes are perfect for any modern home since the constant reflections and interplay of light creates a luminescent rebound effect that gives the illusion of spaciousness.

2. Arc and Statement Wall Sconces aligned with the wall

These designers have captured the sophisticated, precise nature of balance through these captivating statement wall sconces. Flexible and functional, the use of soft, simple lines makes these lights a timeless staple. These wall sconces are perfect for task lighting, whether you want to illuminate a table, office desk, or reading nook.

3. Organic and Space Forms

Evocative of organic and space forms like meteorites and planets, these lights add magic, curiosity, and wonder to any space. These organic space forms provide a solution to industrial uniqueness, combining both hand-blown artistry and industrial production to get products that are both unique and affordable. These lamps are perfect to fill a space with magic and character.

4. Portables, Portables, Portables!

Brands have been producing portable, rechargeable table lamps for years, but they became a prominent staple in the past year for their versatility. Almost every designer brand presented a new portable table lamp as part of their 2023 Euroluce launch! Like little companions, they pave the way to illuminate traditionally challenging spaces both indoors and outdoors.

5. Advanced Architectural Solutions/Systems with Decorative Elements

Designed with flexibility at the forefront, adaptable systems make it possible to interchange and combine a multitude of luminaire heads. Adaptable systems enable the creation of expansive lighting solutions tailored to specific needs, making them suitable for various settings, including homes, offices, and hotels.

6. Sustainable Materials

With environmental responsibility becoming a top priority, many brands have committed to eco-friendly design. Each of these brands has crafted its lights with sustainable techniques to ensure low environmental impact. Using responsibly sourced materials, such as recycled yarn, wood, and real leaves, these lamps exemplify the fusion of design and sustainability. These lamps are perfect centerpieces, bringing natural beauty into the living room, dining room, and kitchen.
